It's been an interesting spring for the breakfast sandwich. In March, we lost the visionary behind the Egg McMuffin when Herb Peterson, a Rogers Park native, died at 89. Then Panera Bread launched a trio of grilled sandwiches and Burger King unveiled the Cheesy Bacon BK Wrapper. Yet for sheer importance, the season's grandest event is McDonald's new chicken breakfast sandwich. We've tried them all:
